Press Release

Habitat for Humanity ReStore of Durham and Orange Counties and Hilldrup Host ‘ReStock the ReStore’ Donation Drive

Durham, NC– The Habitat for Humanity ReStore of Durham and Orange Counties and Hilldrup will partner for “ReStock the ReStore,” a donation drive for the thrift store, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 19 at 5501 Durham-Chapel Hill Blvd.

The goal of the donation drive is to increase the ReStore’s inventory before its busy Easter-weekend sales and to get the community in the spring-cleaning spirit. The ReStore accepts donations of new and gently used furniture, appliances, home décor, mattresses, cabinetry, windows, hardware, lumber, tools, flooring, lighting and much more. All donations are tax-deductible, and donated items are sold to the public and benefit the Habitat for Humanity of Durham and Orange County affiliates.

Volunteers from VanMile and the ReStore will be onsite on March 19 to accept donations. If donors have large items they cannot bring in themselves, they can call to schedule a pickup for a later time. Pickups are scheduled through the ReStore by calling 919-354-0892 or by visiting www.restoredurhamorange.org/donate. For those unable to participate in ReStock the ReStore, donations are accepted Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m.- 6:00 p.m.

“With the spring-cleaning season in full bloom, many people are de-cluttering their homes, garages and storage units. They may consider throwing out those items; instead we want to encourage them to donate those items to the ReStore,” said Chrissy Sailstad, manager of the ReStore. “We’re excited to partner with Hilldrup to increase donations and raise more funds for Habitat for Humanity.”

In addition to receiving a tax-deductible donation receipt, all donors on March 19 will receive a swag bag filled with coupons and other giveaways from the ReStore, Hilldrup and VanMile.

In 2015, donations and purchases made at the ReStore allowed for six homes to be built for deserving families in Durham and Orange counties. Visit www.restoredurhamorange.org to learn more about donating, shopping and volunteering, as well as, other exciting opportunities going on at the ReStore.
