Volunteer Roles Series: Functionality Tech

Are you interested in volunteering within your community…but aren’t sure how to get started? You can volunteer at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore to help build hope and homes within your community! We are posting a mini-series on the different volunteer opportunities that you can participate in by volunteering at the ReStore. Please note that these roles require a minimum three month commitment. This week we are highlighting the role of our Functionality Techs.

Where there is electricity, there is power.

Be a powerful force at the ReStore by becoming a Functionality Tech! In this role, you will sort, test, clean, price, and display donations of electric items. The ReStore accepts everything from vacuum cleaners to DVD players to space shuttles, so you will encounter a new challenge every day!

One of the goals of the ReStore is to provide its customers with a positive shopping experience, and selling working electronics is just one of the ways that we can do that. We will provide basic training on how to test these items, as well as training on how to price the items so that they will help generate revenue for the ReStore.

Interested Functionality Techs should be confident in working independently but not afraid to ask questions when something new comes through the door. Prior experience with electronics is welcome, but it is not necessary.

Be our source of power, and contact the ReStore about becoming a Functionality Tech today!

Does this sound like a role that interests you? If so, please email Amanda Casella, the Volunteer Manager, at acasella@restoredurhamorange.org to set up a meeting.
