At the ReStore, we are in constant need of new volunteers.  It is through the work of our volunteers that we are able to provide funding for Habitat for Humanity homes while diverting waste from landfills.

Volunteer activities are designed to contribute to our daily operations, enhance our store quality, and increase the satisfaction level of our donors and customers.  Typical volunteer activities include: processing donations, arranging sales items, performing special projects, cleaning, clerical work and assisting customers.  These tasks increase ReStore sales, therefore increasing the amount of money we provide to our Habitat affiliates (Durham County and Orange County), which in turn leads to more homes for deserving families in our local community.

As a new ReStore volunteer, we welcome you to come as you are, with the willingness to become an important link in the Habitat for Humanity mission. Whether you are a short-term or long-term volunteer, you will become a member of the Habitat for Humanity family, meet new people, share your expertise and skills, learn new things, and receive recognition for your service.

To get started, all potential volunteers are required to attend an orientation at the ReStore (5501 Durham-Chapel Hill Blvd)!

Orientations familiarize you with our store and tell you about some of the great volunteer opportunities that you'll get to experience while you are volunteering with us.

Please park around the back of the store, and enter through the back doors. These sessions are about 90 minutes long. More information about volunteering options, as well as the training days and times will be given at the orientation.  A separate training is also required to volunteer.

In order to volunteer, you must bring the following items with you to the orientation:

  1. A photo I.D. (driver’s license, school I.D., etc.).

  2. Those under 18 will need to bring a release and waiver signed by their parent/guardian.

  3. A positive and willing attitude to help you community!

**Important! If you need volunteer hours for community service, you must use the link located in the court-ordered service tab.
