Greeter

Purpose of the Position:  To increase the store’s revenue-generating capacity by enhancing the customer experience and monitoring outgoing merchandise.

Key Activities:        

  • Welcome incoming customers.
  • Direct customers to specific store departments when asked.
  • Ensure ReStore purchasing guidelines are adhered to upon exiting.
  • Keep the entry areas tidy and orderly.

Location:  Habitat for Humanity ReStore; 5501 Durham Chapel Hill Blvd. Durham, NC 27707

Time Commitment:

  • Duration of 2 months or more.
  • Minimum average of one shift (2 hours) every 2 weeks.

Required Training:

  • An orientation to the ReStore and its volunteer program.
  • A policy and procedural training session.
  • 3 training/shadowing shifts.
  • Additional training sessions, as necessary, for review or store changes.

Supervision:

  • Administrative support provided by the Volunteer Program Manager.
  • Task supervision provided by the Sales Floor Coordinator.

Essential Qualifications:     

  • Demonstrate a commitment to the mission of Habitat for Humanity and the ReStore.
  • Provide own transportation to and from the ReStore.
  • Maintain a cooperative and friendly attitude.
  • Willingness to interact with customers.
  • Ability to retain and communicate information about the ReStore’s layout.
  • Willingness to adapt in a multi-faceted paced environment.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Ability to stand for the majority of a shift.
  • Ability to educate customers about the connection of the ReStore and Habitat for Humanity missions.
