Purpose of the Position: To increase the store’s revenue-generating capacity by enhancing the customer experience and monitoring outgoing merchandise.
Key Activities:
- Welcome incoming customers.
- Direct customers to specific store departments when asked.
- Ensure ReStore purchasing guidelines are adhered to upon exiting.
- Keep the entry areas tidy and orderly.
Location: Habitat for Humanity ReStore; 5501 Durham Chapel Hill Blvd. Durham, NC 27707
Time Commitment:
- Duration of 2 months or more.
- Minimum average of one shift (2 hours) every 2 weeks.
Required Training:
- An orientation to the ReStore and its volunteer program.
- A policy and procedural training session.
- 3 training/shadowing shifts.
- Additional training sessions, as necessary, for review or store changes.
Supervision:
- Administrative support provided by the Volunteer Program Manager.
- Task supervision provided by the Sales Floor Coordinator.
Essential Qualifications:
- Demonstrate a commitment to the mission of Habitat for Humanity and the ReStore.
- Provide own transportation to and from the ReStore.
- Maintain a cooperative and friendly attitude.
- Willingness to interact with customers.
- Ability to retain and communicate information about the ReStore’s layout.
- Willingness to adapt in a multi-faceted paced environment.
Desired Qualifications:
- Ability to stand for the majority of a shift.
- Ability to educate customers about the connection of the ReStore and Habitat for Humanity missions.
